KATRIS is a reflection of who we are and what we love
At KATRIS, we’re fascinated by the special relationship between cats, humans, and their shared environment. When we founded Papercut Lab, a cutting-edge research institution focused solely on paper design products, we were determined to create a more sustainable scratcher. We introduced our first product, the Modular Cat Tree, but now, we’re proud to expand our business with more innovative offerings. As KATRIS continues to grow and evolve, our dedicated team of eco-friendly engineers works (and plays) hard every day to turn cardboard into incredible products that you and your cat will love.
WE SEE DESIGN AS A WAY OF LIFE
We’re a team of dedicated individuals based in Silicon Valley with a background in design and packaging. Many of us have been working with paper and cardboard for most of our careers. In everything we do, creativity and craftsmanship always go hand in hand. As craftsman, thinkers, and designers, experimenting and building is our passion and we learn by making. We appreciate the process as much as we appreciate the final outcome.

PETS ARE OUR FRIENDS
We’re a group of pet lovers who have cats or dogs as our companions in life. We care about their physical and emotional well-being. Our founder Jeff’s cat Ceo has been a major influence and inspiration behind the KATRIS brand. With Ceo around, we were able to witness his problems as well as his happy moments, allowing us to create products that can offer rich experiences.

OUR CONCEPT
Our design team has spent most of their time investigating how to utilize paper materials to fit the needs of our cat companions. Layered corrugated cardboard creates a very sturdy structure and a surface perfect perfect for scratching. The concept of modularity plays another important role in KATRIS products. Modularity gives the user the flexibility to fit KATRIS into different environments and lifestyles while inviting play and exploration. It also creates a changing environment for cats to explore.

We strongly support anti-declawing and efforts of organizations such as the Paw Project. The anti-humane practice of declawing cats has both physical and psychological effects that lower the quality of their lives. Learn more at http://www.pawproject.org.
KATRIS has donated its products to many local animal shelters. We want to improve the lives of the pet population in these shelters by providing them environmental enrichment in a limited area.
OUR TEAM
Our team is based in two corporate offices in Silicon Valley and Taipei. These two headquarters constantly collaborate during design and production processes to create innovative cat products. All of our products are handmade and thoroughly inspected to ensure the highest quality. We are also very proud to support the local economy in Taiwan and to create job opportunities for people with disabilities.
